I always dig the covers of British Elle, and the July 2009 subscriber cover is no exception. Winona Ryder looks gorgeous and pixie-like as ever. Her recent comeback seems to have lost some of its steam over the past few years (Sex and Death 101, the follow up from Heathers writer Daniel Waters that no one saw, same with The Darwin Awards—though she did have some hits with A Scanner Darkly and The Ten), but after her turn in Star Trek and her upcoming supporting role in The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, I’m hoping we’ll be seeing more of her. I’m sure she’s relieved to play different characters and no longer be the Reality Bites Gen X icon, but I’ll always be nostalgic for her Lydia Deetz and Veronica Sawyer.A few of my favorite Elle UK covers:
